Mr. Hughes grew up in Garland, TX, but is now a proud resident of Ellis County. Mr. Hughes graduated from North Mesquite High School in 2001 and entered the United States Marine Corps the same year. He served five years in the Marine Corps from 2001-2006. He completed two tours of duty in Iraq in 2003 with the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade and 2004-2005 with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His experience as a Marine allows him to bring discipline and courage to protecting the individual liberties of every person who seeks the assistance and protection of Griffith & Associates.
After serving his time in the Marine Corps, Mr. Hughes went on to obtain an Associate’s Degree from Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, TX. After that, he went on to graduate magna cum laude from the University of North Texas, receiving a BBA in Finance. After college, he attended law school at Texas Tech University School of Law where he focused on criminal defense. While in law school, he worked each summer as an intern with Griffith & Associates, which allowed him the opportunity to gain firsthand experience as part of an elite criminal defense team. During his third year of law school, he represented citizens accused of committing crimes through Texas Tech School of Law’s Criminal Defense Clinic. Based on his outstanding performance representing citizens accused, Mr. Hughes was the second member of Griffith & Associates to earn the Clifford W. Brown Award given by the Lubbock Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
Mr. Hughes is licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas and is a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He has devoted his practice solely to criminal defense. He believes that everyone deserves a team to stand between them and the government with its endless resources. He understands that every citizen accused is someone’s father, mother, brother, sister, son, or daughter, and that they should be represented as a person; not a file, fee, or statistic. He promises that he will bring his aggressiveness to the defense of each and every person represented by Griffith & Associates.
